As you get ready for your journey to Medellin for your treatment, we have prepared a comprehensive guide to assist you through every step of the process. From pre-arrival preparations to post-treatment care, this guide is designed to ensure a smooth, informed, and comfortable experience. We understand that traveling and undergoing medical procedures can be a time of uncertainty and stress, which is why we've laid out all the details you'll need – from what to expect before arriving in Medellin, your treatments at our clinic, and all the way through your recovery period. Our goal is to provide clarity, support, and a sense of ease as you approach your treatment with us. Let this timeline be your go-to reference for a seamless treatment experience with Blue Phoenix.
1.Treatment Overview:
- You’ll receive a detailed outline of treatments, appointments, and testing that you will receive during your visit.
2. Health Recommendations:
- Avoid cigarettes and alcohol for at least three months before and after treatment, and for six months after treatment.
3.Medication:
- We will speak with you about any medications that you’re taking and determine if you need to stop taking any of them before your treatment.
4. Medical History Submission:
- Make sure to send us your medical history and any imagery you may have (x-rays, MRIs, etc.).
5. Scheduling:
- You may modify your treatment schedule with us according to our availability.
- You may schedule any medical or dental treatments you like in addition to the treatments that we provide. Please note that Blue Phoenix is not responsible for any aspects of treatments done outside of our clinic.
6. Financial Preparations:
- We require a deposit of 50% of your total treatment cost to reserve a treatment date. We must receive this deposit 3 weeks in advance of your treatment date to ensure sufficient time to prepare for everything during your treatment week.
1. Airport Information:
- Medellin has two airports; patients arriving from outside of Colombia will be arriving at airport MDE located in Rionegro, about 45 minutes from our clinic.
- There are direct flights in the US from New York (JFK), Miami, and Orlando. There are direct flights in Europe from Paris, London, Madrid, Barcelona, Frankfurt, and Amsterdam.
- Many of our international patients arrive on flights originating from Panama City or Mexico City.
2. Travel Documentation:
- In order to enter Colombia, you’ll need a valid passport with at least 3 months remaining before expiration.
- There’s no need to secure a visa before traveling; you’ll automatically be issued a 90-day tourist visa upon arrival.
- You may need to register for CheckMIG before departing for Colombia.
3. Upon Arrival At the Airport
- When you arrive at the airport, you´ll have to first pass customs and then retrieve any bags you may have from baggage claim.
4. Transport to Accommodation:
- As you leave the baggage claim area, there will be a driver holding a sign with your name on it. The driver speaks English, and he’ll help you with your bags and take you to the car.
- The driver will then take you to your hotel or apartment where you’re staying for the week.
5. Initial Contact:
- A representative from Blue Phoenix will also contact you via text or phone to make sure that your arrival has gone smoothly, and to see if you need help with anything
1.Meeting Location and Preparation:
- Our clinic is located within the complex of Centro Comercial El Tesoro. The complex contains a mall, two medical towers, and a hotel (Novotel)
- Go to Torre Medica 2 El Tesoro, Office 1564. You will find the elevators behind the H&M store in the mall. You can access the mall through the Novotel lobby, or by using Torre Medica 2 as your destination in Uber. - Please arrive having fasted for 8-12 hours to ensure that your bloodwork results are as accurate as possible.
2. What to Bring
- Passport (physical, not a photocopy).
- List of current medications you’re taking
- Any imagery (MRIs, x-rays, etc.), imagery reports, or CDs with the imagery on them.
- You may bring a snack for after bloodwork. We will also provide snacks and drinks.
3. Orientation and Treatment Plan Review:
- You will receive a presentation about stem cells: what they are, how they work, and a review of your personalized stem cell treatment plan.
- We’ll discuss your upcoming treatments and answer any questions you may have.
- You’ll meet the doctors in charge of your treatment.
- We’ll schedule the follow up appointments during the treatment week. We include follow-ups after 1, 3, 6 and 12 months.
- You will receive some forms to fill out that we use to compare you condition before and after treatment.
You will need to sign all the informed consent forms for the treatment week.
- You will receive a copy of the presentation, updated treatment plan, and treatment week schedule.
- You will also receive a PDF with information about Medellin such as things to see, suggested restaurants, and tours. Your patient advocate can help you with scheduling any tour you’re interested in.
4. Payment
- Please bring your credit card or other preferred payment method to pay your remaining 50% balance. We’ll collect the balance at the end of your welcome meeting.
5. Bloowork
- After your consultation, you’ll have your blood drawn for the comprehensive bloodwork panel.
- This panel will be individualized according to your individual case and symptoms. You will receive the results by email 3 days after the samples are drawn. Note that results for genetic tests can take up to 4 weeks to arrive.
6. Additional Information
You will receive information about things to do in Medellin, recommended restaurants, and suggested tours in and around the city. Your Patient Advocate can help you schedule any tour that you’re interested in.

Treatment week
- You can expect to be with us 2-3 hours per day, usually in the morning unless you would prefer a different time of day.
- You may modify your schedule according to the clinic’s availability.
- Our Working hours: Monday through Friday 7 am to 6 pm; Saturday 8 am to 12 pm.
- Three sessions in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber, each 45-60 minutes long, are included in your treatment protocol.
- A physical therapy protocol is included in all joint and spinal treatments.
- Daily IV therapy is also included.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT):
- HBOT sessions are performed in a sealed chamber where pressure is increased to 2.5 absolute atmospheres, while oxygen concentration is increased to 100%. The air we normally breathe is only 21% oxygen.
- The first session lasts 45 minutes, while the remaining last sessions 60 minutes.
- It is important that you arrive at the office 10 minutes before the scheduled time since you’ll need to change your clothes.
- Don’t wear anything containing metal such as jewelry or belts.
- There is a locker where you can keep your belongings while you enjoy the session.
- We’ll provide gum for you to chew during each session, if you like, as it will help your ears with the change in pressure.
- You can watch anythinng on youtube or netflix during your session.
Benefits of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy :
- Decreases inflammation
- Promotes and accelerates recovery

Please inform us if you suffer from any of the following:
- Pulmonary disease such as COPD, asthma or lung fibrosis.
- Sinus infection, acute or chronic.
- Ear dysfunction / Eustachian tube dysfunction – inability to equilize when there’s a change in pressure such as diving or flying.
Please inform the medical team if you have any of the following side effects:
- Ear pain – it is normal to have some discomfort but it should go away after you adjust to the pressure.
- Nausea or dizziness – this can happen due to increased blood flow to your gut, and typically passes quickly.
IVs
- You will be receiving an IV each day of your treatment week.
- We have a wide variety of IV that you can choose from, Please refer to the list of IVs provided and let us know if you would like to swap any of your included IV treatments.
- All IVs will be chosen by the medical team according to your current symptoms, diagnosis, and type of treatment you will have.
- You may upgrade any IV for NAD+ (500 mg) if you would like to.
Peptides
- We have peptides for metabolic health, energy, healing, aesthetic purposes and anti-aging purposes. Please refer to the list of peptides provided.
- If any of these peptides interest you, let us know and we can discuss adding them to your treatment

Outside of Centro Comercial El Tesoro:
- Some of our favorites include Oci, Café Dragon, Carmen, Mamba Negra, and Cuon. If there’s any specific type of food you’re looking for, just let us know and we’ll be happy to make a recommendation.
Please show up half an hour before the scheduled time of you treatment at the designated address on your treatment plan (QLUB operating room or Serenn)
- Wear comfortable clothes
- You may drink a cup of water when you wake up, but please arrive having fasted for 8-12 hours. Avoid coffee.
Pain Management
- Pain medication will be provided to you on the day of treatment, along with instructions on how to take it.
- After treatment you’ll spend a few hours recovering in our clinic before going back to your hotel or apartment.
- We will provide a HomeBump device with painkillers for the first 52 hours after treatment for intrathecal treatments, joint treatments that involve more than 2 joints, and spine treatments in some cases. This device uses a continuous infusion rate of tramadol, dipirona and ondansetron for pain and nausea control.
- We will monitor your condition and update the pain management protocol for you if necessary.
- The doctor will speak with you on the phone that night to check in on you and address any concerns you may have. If needed, the medical team will come to Novotel to provide additional pain medication.
Post treatment
- We will be available to speak during the week after your treatment to answer any questions you may have.
- You may return to regular activities according to the doctors’ recommendations.
- You will have two official follow-up consultations with our Medical Director, 1 and 3 months after your treatment.
- You will also have two official follow-up consultations with members of our medical staff, 6 and 12 months after your treatment.
- We recommend that you avoid the following post-treatment:
- Sauna and turkish bath – 3 months
- Smoking and alcohol – 6 months
- We recommend that you don’t drink or smoke at all for 6 months following your treatment. If you choose to drink, we strongly recommend no more than 3 glasses of wine or beers per week to ensure optimal results from your treatment.
Pain medication other than what has been prescribed – 6 months
Avoid NSAIDs (Ibuprofen, Naproxen, etc.), and corticosteroids (cortisone, prednisone, prednisolone, etc.). Tylenol (Acetaminophen/Paracetamol) and opioids are okay.
Pro-inflammatory foods – 6-12 months
Avoid processed foods, saturated or trans fats, dairy, gluten, or any other food to which you react.
We will send you forms after 3 and 6 months to check on your progress.
We recommend that you follow an anti-inflammatory diet for the next 6-12 months (ideally, for life!) (see attached).
